For over 30 years I’ve worked with Heads,

Senior Leaders and Staff Teams, who are trying to keep schools calm, purposeful and humane in a world that never stops changing.

 

My focus is something I call

Mental Security –

helping staff and students feel emotionally safe, steady and able to cope with challenge, rather than constantly running on stress, compliance or fear.

 

When people feel they belong,

have some sense of control,

and know they matter for who they are

(not just what they achieve),

behaviour and performance almost always improve.

My work with schools is about

building those conditions deliberately –

in leadership, in classrooms

and

across the culture of a school.

Leadership coaching & consultancy

Confidential space for heads and senior leaders to think clearly, steady themselves and shape culture on purpose, not by accident.

We look at:

 

  • The emotional load of leadership

  • How to respond, not react, under pressure

  • How to model calm, steady behaviour for staff and students

  • How to align policies with the reality of human behaviour

Practical, down-to-earth sessions on:

  • Belonging and behaviour (without turning staff into “behaviour police”)

Why this matters now

Schools are dealing with:

 

  • Rising levels of anxiety, anger and disengagement

  • Staff who are stretched, tired and sometimes close to burnout

  • Families under pressure and rapid social and technological change

 

 

There are more programmes

and “off-the-shelf” solutions

than ever,

but what many schools tell me they really need is

experienced, emotionally steady support –

someone who has seen the

trends come and go and can help them

navigate what actually works in real life.

 

My work is rooted in

decades of lived experience in schools and organisations, not just the latest initiative. I’m interested in what helps people stay grounded, kind and effective on a wet Tuesday in November, not just on the day of the training.

  • Strengthen staff resilience and retention

  • Reduce firefighting and increase calm, consistent responses

  • Support students who are anxious, angry or withdrawn – without burning staff out

  • Build a culture where people are clear about what we stand for, and how we treat one another, even on the tough days

 

 

My approach is relational, realistic and respectful of how busy schools really are. No gimmicks, no blame – just solid experience,

honest conversation and practical tools.
